The Greatest Miracle of All Time

An illuminated heart.

This is a miracle I have seen over and over again. The hearts of selfish, broken, manipulative, tormented, angry, addicted, caged people completely transformed in an instant. The result? Complete lifestyle changes, new purpose, restoration of families, unbounded hope, takers becoming givers, the dirty becoming clean. No doubt, the greatest miracle of all time is a changed heart.

This miracle is caused by salvation. Salvation is the sudden illumination of a person’s core by the searing light of one truth: that Jesus Christ is the son of the Living God, and that he died and rose again to free anyone who wills from spiritual, physical, and emotional oppression.

The instantaneous changing of a heart is not usually a flashy miracle. It could happen in an isle at the supermarket or in the back of a bus. Prison cells, street corners, church alters, little league games, in front of the television—these are all places where this miracle could happen without fanfare, even without anyone else knowing.

For me, it happened by my bed where I was kneeling as a confused and lost, almost eighteen-year-old alcoholic. Nobody knew when the miracle happened, not even me at first. Yet that one moment was so revolutionary, the trajectory of my entire life has been affected. Salvation is truly the gift that keeps on giving and my life has been continually changed by that one quiet moment between me and God.

I tell you about this miracle because in a blog about the supernatural, I would be remiss not to. There is nothing on all this planet so holy supernatural as the creator of the universe taking a personal interest in mankind—in you—through his son, Jesus. Will you take an interest in him? It's as easy (and as difficult!) as surrendering your heart to his will.

I promise, doing so will be the beginning of something truly miraculous.
