1929 Chrysler 77

It all started at Starbird 2022...

Nobody goes to a car show expecting God to speak them, but after being a believer for so many years I’ve learned to go with it.

It was Starbird 2022 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and I was going with my husband, who is a Classic Car junkie. And I like old cars well enough, but there was one division of the vehicles that floored me! I fell in love with the rat rods.

Have you never seen a ratrod? Think Mad Max. Have you never seen Mad Max? Think of a rusty, rolling pile of mismatched car (and other) parts ingeniously woven together to form these fantastic vehicles that, in my book, also qualify as hardcore art!

I was a little surprised at my reaction. I’m a grown woman, not usually impressed with skulls, flames, and spikes. But there

was just something so incredibly creative about these vehicles. Each one is unique, flashy, and fascinating.

The show was a blast, and I went home happy. I never thought what I felt had a supernatural element until the next morning when I’m sitting in church, minding my own business. I was just listening to my pastor when, suddenly my mind was wall-to-wall ideas. So I took out my phone and started to write.

In my mind’s eye, I could see all these car ideas floating around in my head. In my Christian circles, we call that a Holy Ghost download. And everything I was seeing was for a ratrod! Granted, I don’t know the first thing about building cars, (that’s my husband’s thing), but it was so strong, I talked my husband’s ear off all the way home. For the next week, the ideas just kept coming, and so did the car’s name: The Iron Angel.

As of November of  ‘23, we now have the vehicle we’re going to use—a 1929 Chrysler 77 in amazing condition! The original owner had been a Pentecostal preacher, and their granddaughter said he would have liked our idea. We really feel like this vehicle was preserved for this project and this time.

My husband and I have a first quarter list of things to start working on what will be at least a two-year project. I’ll do more updates here from time to time, but also on FB, Instagram and Twitter. This is going to be an amazing Holy Ghost adventure, and I’d love to have you along for the ride!
